1. Gatlinburg Trail
If you feel like exploring a bit of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with your canine friend, the Gatlinburg Trail is one of the only trails that allows dogs to join the fun! This pleasant hike runs for 1.9 miles one-way from the outskirts of Gatlinburg to the Sugarlands Visitor Center, traveling along the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River. The trail offers beautiful views of the river, which is crossed at one point by a pedestrian footbridge. While strolling along the Gatlinburg Trail, you’ll also notice the foundations and chimneys of several old homesites!
2. Gatlinburg Dog Park
The Gatlinburg Dog Park is located within Mills Park, a city-owned park that welcomes everyone to bring their faithful companions for some “off-leash” fun! You’ll find a pair of separate fenced-in areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs, that have a double-gated entrance to prevent dogs from getting loose. Each of the small and large dog facilities features shaded areas, turfed grass areas, benches, and dog-waste bags and trash cans. In addition, water fountains are accessible outside the gates of the large and small dog parks.
3. PetSafe Unleashed Dog Park in Sevierville
When it comes to the fun places to take your dog near our pet friendly Smoky Mountain cabins, you don’t want to miss the PetSafe Unleashed Dog Park in Sevierville! This is an amazing park designed to give dogs a safe space to run and enjoy the great outdoors, and you’ll find it located within the Sevierville City Park. Some of the features at this popular facility include separate large and small dog areas, dog agility equipment, water, shade, observation cameras, Wi-Fi connectivity, benches, and a designated parking/handicapped parking area.
4. Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge
Another one of the fun places to take your dog near our pet friendly Smoky Mountains cabins is Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge. This lovely park offers an oasis among the many roadside attractions in Pigeon Forge and is a great place to stretch your legs while driving along the Parkway! The walking trail at Patriot Park is an easy half-mile trail that features the flags of all 50 states and several memorials to the veterans of Pigeon Forge. If you want to extend your walk, consider connecting to the 4-mile Riverwalk Greenway, which is also dog-friendly!
